Chrome Blocking Your Download? Here is How to Fix It
Google Chrome is automatically blocking downloads that it perceives as "unsafe" and we want to show you how to fix that.
If Chrome is blocking your download, don't worry — you can bypass this either temporarily for a single file or permanently if you'd prefer to avoid these warnings altogether.
Temporary Fix
This method allows you to download only the specific file that’s being blocked.
- Try to download the file and look for the error message.
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.
- Select "Downloads" from the menu.
- Find the blocked file and click "Keep dangerous file" > "Keep anyway."
- Now you can open the file as usual.
Permanent Fix
If you’d like to prevent Chrome from blocking any downloads in the future, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome and click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- From the drop-down menu, choose "Settings."
- On the Settings page, go to "Privacy and security," then click "Security."
- In the "Safe Browsing" section, select "No protection (not recommended)" to disable Safe Browsing.
- Confirm your choice by clicking "Turn off" in the pop-up.
Please note: Disabling Safe Browsing will reduce Chrome's ability to protect you from potential online threats, so proceed with caution.
