Freelance Shopify / Wordpress developer

Studio Umbrella Inc. designs and develops websites for a variety of companies. We specialize in Shopify and Wordpress but also build custom websites and other custom solutions as well.

We are looking for a talented and dependable Web developer with at least 4-6 years experience building WordPress websites, themes and plugins and a good eye for design. Specifically with the ability to custom code solutions for websites from within the Wordpress and Shopify platforms, utilizing common coding languages CSS3, HTML5, jQuery, vanilla Javascript and PHP.

Currently, we’re looking for a project-based engagement where we would work on specific tasks and projects. If after a few projects it looks like a good fit, we can discuss a more on-going/regular relationship.

SKILLS

Here are some technical skills we're looking for.

• The ability to take a Illustrator, Sketch, Figma or XD file and translate the design mockup into a fully functional, nearly exact and responsive website.

• Knowledge and experience with creating, setting up, building and customizing Shopify sites.

  • Knowledge of and experience with Shopify’s inner workings.

  • The ability to setup a new website within Shopify

• Knowledge and experience with creating, setting up, building and customizing Wordpress sites.

  • Knowledge of Wordpress’s inner workings.

  • The ability to setup a new website using Wordpress, install theme (if needed) and other necessary plugins

  • Experience using ACF, and other popular plugins.

  • Experience with various hosting solutions so that you can launch a site and set up a staging server.

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS/SASS, jQuery/Javascript, PHP.

• Experience working with Git repositories.

COMMUNICATION

We are looking for strong communication skills and the ability to be available for follow ups, reviews and general questions. If you find it difficult to respond to communication  within 1 business day during a project, this role probably isn't a good fit for you.

We love to collaborate with talented people, teaching and learning from each other and constantly growing to gain experience and knowledge. We love to work as a team, but also depend on and trust each other to get the job done independently. We are comfortable handing parts of a project over to other team members, reviewing each other's work, and asking/accepting advice.

AVAILABILITY

We don’t impose working hours on team members, and generally do not expect them to work or communicate outside of normal business hours. We just want to get the job done efficiently and on time and trust that it will be :)

• How many custom WordPress sites have you built in the last 2-4 years?
• How many WordPress sites have you made changes to in the last year? (feature updates, fixing a bug, creating a new landing page, etc.)
• How many hours a week do you spend working on WordPress sites on average?
• What’s your method/process of working? Do you start with a specific theme or page builder? What’s your coding environment look like (i.e. Gulp, Prepros, etc.)? 
• How many hours a week do you expect to be available over the next month, and in coming months?
• What is your preferred working schedule? (What time of day, and days of the week are you available?)

Freelance Designer

We’re looking for someone that can support us with client branding and site designs on an ongoing basis. 

You should know Figma/Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, and have experience with Shopify. Illustration, and app experience (not mandatory).
